Barbara Cornell Stair 1936 - 2008

Barbara Stair was an esteemed friend to all who worked with her at OHCO over the last decade. She kept our books and contributed much to our company in terms of its direction. Special events and parties just won't be the same. Her enthusiasm for life was so contagious.

She was born in the Year of the Rat and died in the Year of the Rat - 13 cycles but not enough for those who loved her. She was a grand Southern lady with her heart in Colorado. We miss her greatly.

 

Barbara's Obituary

Barbara was born Barbara Bundy Clark on August 20, 1936, in Richmond, VA. Her parents were Robert Wendell Clark and Sue Bundy. Barbara spent her preschool through teenage years with her guardians, Minnie and Thomas Howard, on Grant Avenue in Manassas, VA. She graduated from Osbourne High School in 1954 and went on to attend Madison College until 1956, when she returned to Manassas and was married to Robert Lee Cornell. Five years later they had a son, Jeffrey Lee Cornell. Barbara's second marriage was to Rodney M. Stair from 1969 to 1980, and they lived in Manassas with Jeffery and later moved to Evergreen, CO in 1973.

During the 1960's, she was employed as a property and office manager for Lindsey & Waldron and Miles Land Co., respectively. Barbara was a partner-owner of the Busy Bee Answering and Secretarial Service from 1980 to 1983. From 1984 to 1999, she was the office manager for the G. Nicholas Pijoan and Frank & Finger law firms. During her most recent eight years, she worked for the Art for the Mountain Community, OHCO/Oriental Herb Company and various other firms and individuals on a part-time basis

Barbara's greatest loves were gardening and cooking. She devoted much of her time from early spring to late fall to the daily care of her beloved gardens. She was a wonderful cook and loved entertaining her friends for every occasion. She also loved to travel, and in recent years made annual trips to the coast of South Carolina.

Barbara is survived by her son Jeffrey Cornell of Pine, and his fiancee, Dana Ceuca; a stepson, Miles Stair and wife Susan of St. John, U.S. Virgin Islands; and a stepdaughter, Sherry Stair of Hampton, VA.
