Q: I want to give the herbs to my horse. What’s the dose?

Answer

A: Because the average horse weighs between 900 and 1200 pounds and ponies weigh between 500 and 900, much more than we’re used to, we consulted with horse rescue expert, Jan Ferguson at Heaven’s Gateway in Howard, Colorado, for help with doses.

Jan has used OHCO-Motion on many horses who have had a muscle or ligament injury. She uses it in place of Bute (Phenylbutazone) or aspirin. It will ease pain making for faster healing. When people call me asking what to do with a horse that is injured, I will advise them to use one of the three: OHCO-Motion, Bute or Horse Aspirin, in that order. I explain to them that because OHCO-Motion is natural, it is less apt to cause internal problems such as ulcers, plus it is less expensive than the others.

Jan says, “On the average, a horse with a mild to mid-range injury gets one or one and one-half scoop in their grain once a day. If their injury is more severe I will give them one scoop in their grain twice a day.” The scoop that comes with the powder form of the product is 1/4-tsp.
